Modern High Definition technology is amazing for movies and sports, and now, it’s even better for video security! The latest in cutting edge HD technology has greatly impacted the video surveillance market. Customers continue to demand more enhanced image quality for use in applications where showcasing movement and identifying objects are vital. Nothing is more precious than your family, your home, your business and your peace of mind. Clearer HD images and video greatly enhance the recognition of intricate details such as license plate numbers and distinct facial features. With the introduction of HD resolution in security cameras, clearer and sharper images have become the new standard! Night Owl’s HD Analog 1080 Lite Series offers consumers the flexibility to use both 720p and 1080p HD Analog cameras as well as standard analog cameras on one DVR. This series is completely interchangeable, giving consumers the option to mix and match equipment for a fully customized package. The HD Analog Series allows consumers to remotely view live and recorded video on their smart device as well as receive real-time motion activated alerts to their smart device. Additionally, consumers can remotely access their DVR and conveniently change its’ settings on the go.
Nice technology, great DVR!
Overall a great DVR. I am using it for a non-traditional purpose: recording quadcopter races. I am able to connect up to 8 wireless video receivers to it (I use the RC832) and record simultaneously. I got it up and running in no time, and didn’t even need to read a manual (which is good, because I don’t think it came with one).
i would buy again but be wary and check product before throwing packaging away!
ordered this unit and like others have said it was missing the hard drive even though ad says it should contain one. the seller was at fault and have a really extensive process to send product back ( like has to contain all the original packaging?) I went out and bought a 2 tb hard drive and installed myself. seems to be the easiest way to correct the problem without the runaround. Item work great. connected to my phone and can view, although a bit choppy vid on phone sometimes. i have 4 pan tilt zoom cams from ANran, connected with all working properly i have set up to alert on specific cams to my email address. no hard back manual comes with the unit(my older 4 camera one had a hard back manual) the software could be a bit easier and the help part could be also. you can figure it out after playing with it a while. finding the setting to set up the address for pan/tilt camers was challaging but once i did it wasnt to hard.
Very good home security system
This Night Owl 8 Channel DVR is working fine. I am able to view the cameras on a monitor and my LED TV. My only disappointment is not being able to view the cameras on my computer. I installed the application from the included CD and followed the on screen instructions but the cameras could not be viewed in the window. I installed the application on my mobile phone and I am pleased to report that viewing of the cameras was immediate. Being able to monitor my home while I’m away is just great. 4 stars. If the app had worked on the computer I would have given 5 stars.
… on price and the very friendly software is a great product but I have experienced some incompatibilities
Based on price and the very friendly software is a great product but I have experienced some incompatibilities. I have not figure out why my Uniden 1080P 2MP surveillance cameras did not work with this DVR so I have to use my old 700TVL from my first system which work fairly well. I am wondering if anybody else experienced this and I hope I will not need to spend more money on 1080P cameras to fix this issue. So far I am happy with the purchase in terms of product quality and very easy on the settings configuration.
Night Owl recorder
Nice product , and finally an honest advertisement, it came with the internal Hard drive , buyers beware the other company don’t come with the internal hard drive, it is sold separately. Setup was a breeze and customer support excellent fast and to the point . Will buy again and again!!!!
Amazing system and set up
We purchased this system to replace a 16 camera night owl system that was 6 years old. It states it takes 2 min to set up. And they weren’t lying!! It took minutes to download the app and 2 min to connect to the unit. We have iPhone 8’s so it was so easy to set up and use. I LOVE the fact that you can playback images right on our phone! The HD quality give us such a sharper image even with the cameras that are not HD!
Worth the addition…
I purchased this system to replace my older unit by the same company. The video is much sharper and the ability to view live and recorded information from my phone, iPad or laptop was a requirement. The setup was not as easy as they made it seem but was doable, which is one reason I gave a 4 star rating. 1080p or 4K would make it better but the price is great for additional home security.
DVR 5 star Remote view 1 star
The DVR works good. My only issue is with remote viewing. Initially set up and it worked well viewing from my cell phone. After a couple weeks I was unable to remote view. Emailed tech support. They said to insure I had the firmware up to date which it was, reinstall the app, turn the phone off and back on while at work, once again it worked for a bit. Once again reinstalled, turned on and off and it worked for a week or so. I find I have to constantly do this. Sometimes it works on phone data but not on work wifi. Other times doesn’t work on either. It’s a real ain in the butt. I go to work and it’s a hit or miss if it works.
