The HD Wi-Fi Camera (DCS-936L) provides crisp 720p video, making it easy and convenient to watch over your home no matter where you are. 16 feet of night vision allows you to see in total darkness and with automatic push alert notifications whenever sound or motion is detected, you’ll never miss a moment. The DCS-936L features a Wi-Fi signal locator LED which helps you determine optimum Wi-Fi connection when deciding where to place your camera. Use your mobile device with the mydlink Lite app to stream live HD 720p video or record to a microSDXC card up to 128 GBs.
Mostly good product
After using them for three weeks, here are my observations on this product:
Connection Headache Resolved
Great camera, excellent video and design, but will absolutely not work with Dual Band Wifi.
Decent camera with too many unnecessary complications
OK, I got it to work…. sort of
Great home wi-fi monitoring camera upgrade
I was hesitant upon reading the mix of reviews but I wanted to add a bit more definition to my home monitoring camera after many years of using the DCS-942L. I have to say I am very impressed with the upgrade! It arrived quickly I had it connected to my Wi-Fi in only a couple minutes all via my Android phone. The device ran through a software update and was up and running. It’s been 3 days and I’ve moved it’s location twice just to check on it’s stability of reconnecting. So far it has been flawless and the picture quality is superb.
The camera has good image quality
The camera has good image quality, but it was an absolute pain to get setup. Don’t even bother looking, if you don’t have WPS on your router. I had to re-enable SSID broadcast, since my gateway will not allow WPS without it. It is also silly that with a camera of this capability, Dlink does not offer a wizard for setup as with most of their other cameras. The last issue is browser support…or the lack thereof. You have no access to their web interface with certain popular browsers…Chrome, above V.52 of Firefox, etc. Without a supported browser, you’ll never see or be able to access their interface to do things like firmware updates. It’s a good camera picture-wise but with lots of oversight.
Pretty Good – Nice Price
Camera works pretty good and the picture is really nice. It has a very nice field of view so I can see both my front porch and drive way. I also really like how the camera can be adjusted to bend and twist in different directions to fit me needs. Setup and installation was also very easy. My only beef with the camera is that it has VERY sensitive motion detection. I have turned the sensitivity rating up and down and changed the motion zone multiple times but I will still get dozens of false motion alarms a day. Sometimes every 5-10 minutes. I finally found a good balance for the motion settings but it took some patience. Other than that, the camera has been a very nice addition to my home security. Can’t beat the price either.
