Does everything – perfect if you don’t understand professional security systems
There are 2 areas of this camera to review: the hardware specs (resolution, view angle, PTZ functionality, etc) and firmware (user interface, networkability).
Awesome camera. Software app is easy to use
Awesome camera. Software app is easy to use. I’ve purchased others and noting but a hassle. Connection is stream lined and quick. Even for a non-geek like me. resolution is good with colors pretty true with light. night vision is of course black and white but crisp and sharp. Microphone is clear and very sensitive. I have not used the record feature so I cannot comment on that. Range of movement is very wide in all directions and lag time from input to movement is about 3 seconds. As you input instructions, a heads up screen shows where you are looking and going to in the field of vision. You can hear the motor noise through the microphone / app but cannot be heard near the camera. The app lets you zoom in the frame but this is electronically so it can get fuzzy if you go too far. 1080p may be better, the auto sense on my broadcasts on 750p. Pretty good unit for the $ based on what’s out there.
It’s an okay pan & tilt day/night camera if you’re using the mydlink system
This D-Link DCS-5222L wireless HD pan & tilt camera does what it is supposed to do, but the web interface and apps are clunky and unintuitive. I have this connected to the D-Link DNR-202L recorder, but have accessed it’s web interface directly as well. Neither is intuitive.
They need to up their game on their phone and tablet apps.
I bought several of these because I like the pan and tilt and 2 way audio. However, I cannot record events because it is impossible to find the option to change video to mpeg. Why is this not the default setting. Also, you cannot change it online. You have to be on the same network, and actually know the ip address of the cameras. Why is the setting not on the ipad or android app. Yes it has an sd card slot, but this is useless when it won’t record anyway. My iluv cameras don’t have pan, scan and tilt, and the picture is subpar, but at least they have cloud recording.
Works great, no issues
This is a great product. I don’t see what the fuss is about. I just received a B2 version, the latest. As with any product, the first step is to plug in and update the firmware. Easy. Wireless setup was easy. Control (pan and tilt) is easy with the mydlink lite app, both iOS and Android. View can be high res or low. Color is good in light, and in no light the infrared works too, though grainy. I have not tried the micro sd card, 2-way voice or recording yet. Listening is fine, as it is with all my other (more basic) dlink cameras.
