but took and formatted my 2TB WD purple drive just fine. It found my HOSAFE and Samsung IP cams …
So far, not thrilled. VMS software doesn’t configure unit fully, and had many problems trying to get IE or Chrome to log in. Finally used older version of IE on Windows 8.1 (my primary pc is windows 10).
Well worth it.
I don’t normally write reviews but I think this product has earned it, setup was a little tricky the video outputs are in HD so some older VGA monitors will not work and some older RCA monitors don’t work didn’t try the HDMI so I can’t speak for that, but once you’ve got the system set up you can adjust the resolution to a slightly lower level and it would work with an older monitor I had, recognized 6 different brands of analog cameras I tried and I have a Hikvision IP camera hooked up to it as well, setup is quite intuitive and all the menu items are labeled with what they actally do so you don’t have to run through a dozen mislabeled menus to find what you need, motion detection is excellent and easy to setup, email notifications are a little tricky to setup if using gmail you might get a “blocked sign-in attempt” notice from google from a “less secure app” use that notice to change your settings to allow less secure apps, for user name and password that is YOUR full @gmail.com email and YOUR password and the server is “smtp.gmail.com” with port 465 and ssl ON, then set the recipient as YOUR email and click apply then click test and it should work from there.
Easy setup. app works great!!!
Superb value for the price paid. I upgraded from my 8 ch 960H system. I’m running 1080p cameras with 960H. Easy setup. app works great!! Using Q-See QT view. Can also use super live plus app . Starts up fast and goes right to camera previews. Motion events are easily reviewed with timeline style triggers. UPnP with DDNS. Excellent menu system. It’s feature rich and worth every penny!!
Great Option We Can Offer to Our Customers …
As a CCTV services provider, I have been installing the 12 channel Tribrid and 24 channel Tribrid versions of this unit for our customers for just over a year now and have had excellent results and very positive feedback from our customers as well. When paired with the appropriate HD-TVI 1080p cameras, the recorded video is excellent. Much better than Std. Def. or 960H. Have even gotten compliments from law enforcement authorities on video quality the few times we’ve had to provide video evidence.
Great Product Quality
I have installed several DVRs over the years. This one definitely looks like a commercial product with better quality. It allows for two hard drives to be installed and even the BNC connectors connected easier to the camera cables than the DVR being replaced. I have a very special installation with the flat screen using a 70 foot HDMI cable and the mouse using two USB 20 foot extension cords in series to reach into the proper room. The unit had no problem with this installation. Once I got used to the slightly different setup, there were no set up problems. I am running 14 cameras and using email alert for certain motion detection. This unit will be running unattended for the next 5 months in the middle of a forest preserve. I don’t expect any problems.
Nice replacement for my dead NVR.
Very nice NVR. Replaced an older NVR that the network interface was damaged in a storm. I really like being able to add IP cameras from offsite locations. The NAT functionality is a great improvement over the old days of forwarding ports. Only thing that concerns me is finding anything about support or firmware updates for this. Can’t find anything online and there is nothing in the literature or software that came with it.
The unit is pretty feature rich for the price
The unit is pretty feature rich for the price. All-in-all, really happy after setup.
So far so good. I purchased this unit as a replacement recorder …
So far so good. I purchased this unit as a replacement recorder for a Defender system that lasted about 2 years. Very easy software and settings. Have not tried to download or extract videos form the unit yet. I only have 5 analog signal cameras connected at this time. I plan on purchasing more cameras once I get some free time. The only reason I am not giving this unit 5 stars is that for some reason the video displayed is a little off when viewing on my television using hdmi cable connection. It does not matter what scale I have the TV set at, it still does display the full display. It cuts off the left part of the display.
Good, but not for the technically challenged
Connecting the cameras and adding the HD were easy enough. However, it was more difficult to setup than I anticipated. (This coming from a seasoned software engineer.) Much of the confusion comes from various ways to configure it. The built in Java web app (which is fine for remote viewing and configuration but not playback). The application which good for play back local viewing but horrible for configuration. Then there is the built in mouse for use with it HDMI output – which is just there and functions but not particularly great. I didn’t even try to config it with the smart phone apps nor have been able to view the cameras with the app for windows phone (7.5). I have also not been able to view the cameras with the iPhone app on a relative’s phone. I don’t know if it is the app, the phone or some myriad of settings that is not configured properly.
the feature that made me fall in love with this unit is the autonat feature
I originally bought this unit because of the adaptability of different camera standards and the affordable price. On these merits alone, as long as the dvr didn’t break, it would be a sure fire success. This was a product I sold and installed to a residential consumer and we were both quite impressed with the picture quality using 720p HD-TVI cameras. However, unknown to my customer, the feature that made me fall in love with this unit is the autonat feature. Literally, if you can install an app on your smartphone, you can remote view these cameras. If the remote view setup takes longer than 3 minutes after you read the instructions, you should call your data provider and tell them to bump you to the next highest data tier. Ive installed hundreds of different brands of surveillance equipment. I guarantee it will take longer for your phone to download the app than it will take for the rest of the remote view s combined! Having said all of that, a year and a half later, I’ve bought 3 more units and have bought a different model dvr since the first HDVIEW product I bought. Honestly, I’ve also switched to their 1080p varicocele cameras and haven’t looked back. Every product I’ve purchased from this company has exceeded every expectation I had. The only thing I can’t comment on is customer support. Quite frankly, none of their products have required me any support. In the end, that’s all I want. Good products, great prices, and no haggling with a phone two rep. I’m happy to give 5 stars.
