High quality camera for the price.
This review is posted across all the products in this system because this is a system review rather than just one of the pieces.
This camera is the the best you can get for the money.
This camera is the the best you can get for the money at the moment. The quality of the picture and the wide angle lens really make the difference. If I was a plug and play guy willing to pay for amcrestcloud.com cloud service (4hr/per cam is free) there is no any issues setting this camera for less then 10 minutes but I’m not. So here is my story. After spending countless hours with Amcrest firmware downgrading and upgrading I think I can answer any question you may have. The latest firmware V2.400.AC01.15.R upgraded properly it has just one issue so far – can’t rename the device (not big deal for me). Setting up recording to FTP server will return a fail message after pressing the test button if the FTP is Microsoft IIS FTP, but in reality it’s actually working. If you’re using Filezilla FTP server there is no fail message. There is no any issues recording to sandisk sd card. This camera has multi stream output. Main – you can set it up with the highest quality for recording and Sub stream for monitoring from mobile device set to lower quality for fast access. Amcrest mobile application always connects to the sub stream. The night vision is B&W but with outstanding quality and distance. The pictures I’m attaching are desktop screenshots they are not the actual quality that’s coming from the camera.
Fantastic 3 Megapixel camera you can mount almost anywhere.
Finally. The Industry has finally gotten to the high-res and reliable camera packages for Outdoor use! I’ve already installed this thing and love it’s response. The wide field and long-range focus is awesome. Color response, even at night, is fantastic. Black and White modes for day and night are available. Recommend wired configuration, then use the red end to close the hole for the network wire enclosure.
A challenge but once successful it works really well
This will be a whole new review since I finally have all of the functions of the camera working. It has been a frustrating experience and my biggest mistake was to try and do the install from the quick start guide. It is much more informative to watch one of the youtube videos on how to complete the installation. If I had done that the basic installation would have taken only a few minutes instead of hours. What is important to know is that if you need to check on the red and green led’s they are under the cover on the bottom of the camera where the SD card goes.
I bought 4 cameras to use with the Surveillance Station on my Qnap NAS. Two POE and two wireless. I started looking for compatible cameras at the Qnap website and after reading many reviews I opted for the Amcrest cameras. Installation was very easy, much easier than expected. I was expecting to spend a couple of hours installing the cameras to my system but it took me literally 5 minutes each. I just downloaded the Amcrest app from the App store to my iphone and followed the instructions. You just read a QR code with your phone’s camera, setup a password and that’s it. Making Surveillance Station access the camera was a little more tricky but also very easy. I downloaded “Amcrest IP Config” free from Amcrest’s website and ran it to find the IP of the cameras. That’s all I needed to make Surveillance Station find the cameras. And the quality of the image is really very good, very clear. The night vision is also better than expected and the motion detector works very well so the camera only records when there is movement. I’m very happy with the purchase.
If you need a wide angle view this might be the one for you.
I originally bought this to get better resolution so I could push in on video down the driveway when needed. What you get is roughly equivalent to 1080p resolution but about 1.5 times as wide and high. So looking down a long drive for instance is kind of a waste because you are gaining angle not resolution. But if you are looking out over a yard it is great. For instance the these
Works perfectly- Synology NAS compatible
I have only had this for a week. I have not yet physically installed it outside to look at my drive which is my intention, but have been playing with it indoors and connected it to my Synology NAS. It has so far worked perfectly. It has excellent resolution, nightvision has a long range. Most important to me, it works flawlessly with my NAS surveillance system. It can be set up to be triggered by motion or fully pre-programmed. Dumps videos or images into a surveillance folder with date & time stamps. It is possible to put a micro-SD card in it for internal memory in case network connection is lost. It has a nice phone app that allows you to do live view and change camera settings. It is quite well made. So far very satisfied.
