Better than Dropcam/Nestcam
Better than Dropcam/Nestcam. Easy setup!
Exceeded expectations as an IP camera
I don’t know why there are so many complaints about this camera, but I have nothing but great remarks for it. The camera is economical and it does a fantastic job at doing what it is advertised to do. I decided to go for this over a baby monitor because of its remote capability
Worth a little extra money
After ordering and returning less expensive camera, I ordered this Amcrest camera instead. It is well worth a little extra money for two reasons: better features and great customer support. This camera has several ports on the back, including one for an ethernet connection. (This was vital for the set-up process because it enables you to plug it directly to the router.) It also comes with a base with variable height adjustments that you can screw into the wall. I want to be able to move it to different rooms, so I rigged some suction cups to attach it to glass. But the coolest feature is the ability to swivel the lens remotely via smartphone. The app has other useful features, and makes it easy to enable or disable the speaker and microphone. The camera works well in low light and has really good zoom capabilities. As for customer service, I was able to talk to a competent technician who helped me set it up when I ran into a snag. Our router is apparently dual band and I had to use my computer and connect the camera directly to the router in order to get them to communicate.
Best Bang for your $$$
I’m able to watch my dogs while I’m at work and the quality has been top-notch. Every now and again I have to close out all my apps that use data in order for the viewer to work. I downloaded the amcrest view lite version and I’m able to pan, zoom and tilt with precision. The 2-way audio is awesome!!! I can yell at my dogs if they’re misbehaving, how cool! I’ve already recommended this camera to my friends for the sole purpose of pet monitoring. I’ve read reviews about cameras out there built specifically for pet monitoring and they were poor, plus those products were much more expensive. For under $100 you cannot, CANNOT beat the quality that amcrest brings.
Very, very pleased
I’m pleased. Easy to hook up, just plug it in and follow the steps to connect it. I want to mention that I didn’t get a feed from the camera after connecting to my router until I “rebooted” (unplugged, waited 15 seconds and plugged back in) the camera, then it has worked like a champ. The apps (Amcrest View and Amcrest Cloud) took some figuring out as far as the motion detection schedule goes. My key hints are to be sure you save by tapping the save icons at the time of each screen as you back out – this is required several times! Also, if you want the same schedule every day be sure to click on the “Copy” option and set to the other days you want the same schedule.
Would give a 4.5 if could but over all its a great deal, great camera, great peace of mind!
I received the product on time, paged great, all parts included. For the price, this camera is awesome! The picture is very clear, the functions of the camera are very nice (email notifications, ability to hook directly to modem or go Wi-fi, ability to hook multi cameras up (if you upgrade to the paid subscription which includes more cloud storage), live views, video playbacks, ability to have photo and video saved directly to computer, ability to insert up to a 32 micro SD card (and have more storage for free!) and more. However, if I could rate this a 4.5 I would have because of the ridiculous amount of confusing ways to view/change functions of the camera (app, IP, cloud, some other something something) It gets very confusing and the cloudview.com of the camera stopped working all together…probably because of some of the downloads/plugs it has you download wouldn’t work ( we have a MAC so not sure if that was an issue or not)…which is another reason I would rate the 41/2 star. I thought it was just me (not that tech savvy, but read other reviews and they said same so I know it was not just me). That being said, their customer service/help desk gets back to you pretty quickly with how to fix. For what we need it for, it works great. We like it enough to order another one and an outside camera as well. Bottom line, we would recommend it.
I must say Amcrest has the best security web cam
I bought Amcrest web cam after reviewing all the positive reviews. After one month of using, I must say Amcrest has the best security web cam. I have been using security web cam for at least 10 years, I have owned Linksys, D-Link, and Dropcam/Nestcam. In my opinion, Amcrest has all features that all other web cam combined. Linksys and D-Link web cam I owned were first generation, and extremely difficult to set up without computer knowledge, such as port forwarding and SMTP outgoing mail server setup, Dropcam on the other hand is the most easiest web cam to setup, you do not need any computer knowledge, just follow the quick setup guide and using smartphone to configure the Dropcam, the Dropcam was up and running in 15 minutes. It detects the motion and store the video in the cloud, they let you store the video for free for 7 days to try out, after that they will charge you about $10/month. If you don’t want to pay for cloud storage, then you can only forward the motion detect image to your email. The problem is that the Dropcam motion detect image is only 12K, it is so small that you can’t even tell it is male or female on the image. If you don’t mind to pay for cloud storage then Dropcam/Nest cam is the best choice for you, otherwise the image they forward is useless.
This thing is COOL!
I got this for our baby’s room. I mounted it on the ceiling and put the power cord up into the attic so there are no visible wires. Works great for listing, talking and panning the camera around. I set 3 presets that I can quickly switch between. One zoomed in on the crib. One zoomed out showing the whole room, and one fixed on the outside window. With a 16 GB micro SD card I get a couple days or nonstop recording. Love the App and the fact that I can check on it when I’m away. The only slight problem is that there is like a 2 second delay. For example, when our baby is sleeping in his crib and if he starts getting fussy we hear him first from down the hall then a second or two later we hear it come though the app. Not a big deal for us, but just an FYI.
Best purchase I ever made!
(HD Series 720p black)
Works pretty well and also affordable
Works great for my needs. I have a couple of these set up to record indoors nonstop during daytime over Wifi to a FreeNAS server, which I then review (the .mp4 files in 30-minute chunks) from my laptop in the evenings. To reduce the network traffic I set the video encode to VBR, but otherwise I didn’t have to fuss a lot with the settings. Both video and audio quality are good enough for my needs.
